Brandtson - Dial in Sounds [2002]
emo, pop-punk, indie rock
224vbr

I had this CD sitting around for probably 8 months before I finally got into it. For some reason that's how long it took me to realise that when this album came out Deep Elm had just about the best roster of any label (even if you ignore The Appleseed Cast - which you shouldn't). This is a summer-time-road-trip kind of album, but one which displays a maturity and craftsmanship that you don't often find in this genre. I don't know why this took me so long. It's catchy as hell.

The Moirai - Bury Yourself [2005]
emo, indie rock
224vbr

This is one of my favourite albums of the whole SDRE/Mineral/emo yadda yadda indie scene. It doesn't seem to get talked about much, but everyone who has heard it adores it. This band formed out of the ashes of Penfold and, I think, put the gloss on an already first class sound. Has the voice-cracking, fist-clenching passion that this sound is all about in spades.

Peter Mulvey - Deep Blue [1997]
folk, rock, singer-songwriter
160

Hello. I'm new here. I'm Luke. I have my own colour. It's all rather intimidating.

Peter Mulvey is a guitarist and songwriter from Wisconsin. He's been a contender for my favourite artist since my older brother introduced him to me (first on CD and later in person) several years ago. This is his "try it all" album. The delicate guitar work and evocative lyrics he's best known for with an unusually liberal helping of David Goodrich's excellent electric guitar. I can't recommend this enough.

iTAL tEK- Massive Error [2009]
dubstep, glitch, melodic
320kbp/s

iTAL tEK is easily one of the most interesting dubstep producers around. Very few dubstep artists use melody and texture quite like this chap does (although with this release, when compared with his previous full length, is a lot more beat focused). If most of the genre bores the piss out of you bar that Burial you just downloaded, give this a go.

With an emphasis on big percussion and a sometimes math-ish guitar style, Collections Of Colonies Of Bees are a genuinely interesting instrumental band.

Armand Tanzarian - 不说话的男孩 (The Boy Who Never Spoke) [2009]
post-rock
v5 (~130vbr)

Armand Tanzarian is Derryk Gan, a guy I know from atpr. This is his debut album (self-released) and he has permitted me to post it here in low-bitrate mp3 in order to help get the word out. Definitely check this out and order a copy, he's a great guy that makes great music and great hand-made packaging, plus it's super cheap and limited to 45 copies - get it while it's hot! (Check out his Youtube channel as well, he's got lots of songs and cover-songs on video)

Do me a favor - re-arrange the playlist before you listen to this to make The Birds the last track you hear - it will make the whole thing much better. That being said, if you're not interested in listening to the whole album, make sure to at least listen to The Birds. Track of the year, no doubt.
