Phelan Sheppard - Harp's Old Master [2006]
water lilies, courtyards, air

This album made a bit of an impact when it came out, but no one seems to mention it anymore. Shame. I'm inclined to call it an electronic album, but the majority is played on real instruments. Gentle ambient swirls with layers of guitar. I get a meditative, Japanese garden vibe from it - hence the tags. This is an album for sitting outside in daylight rather than my usual stargaze posts.

Don't you worry your pretty little head, it's benign. And I mean that in a good way. Just don't scratch it too much. Or do, if that's how you roll. I won't judge you.

Another all-instrumental album from the same guys who brought you A Heap Of Broken Images. Great stuff, worth checking out. They also have another album similar to this from later in the year with a bit more of an indie-pop flavour, if you're interested.

Trip-hop for people that like dark modern classical.

Hugely orchestrated, film soundtrack-esque stuff. Could easily fit itself into being a big epic film soundtrack.

This release is a lot more grim and dark than Fordlandia, and to be brutally honest a lot of it reminds me of The Elder Scrolls dungeon music (in a good way). Kvltality aside, there are still some BAWWW pretty tracks on there to tide you lonely losars.

Quite frankly the best OST I've ever heard. Haunting drone that can easily stand up to the 'drone heavyweights' with no problem. This music really made the movie for me.
