Khanate - s/t [2001]
drone, doom, BLEEUURUHGHGHJSDG-metal
256kbp/s

Loved by some and hated by most, dronedoom supergroup Khanate suck and rule at the same time. Think a slightly faster Altar in your garage with a vocalist that sounds like he's getting a vasectomy.

01 Pieces of Quiet (13:24)
02 Skin Coat (9:40)

03 Torching Koroviev (3:37)

04 Under Rotting Sky (18:17)

Khanate - Live WFMU 91.1

Live album ups pretty much just for the track German Dental Work, which is an ace Earth cover. Skin Coat is also LOWER, and heavier.

Rosetta

Rosetta, in my eyes, are undisputable the best metal band around. They're what got me into 'metal' and harder music as a whole, and continue to blow my mind every time I decide to listen again. Take heed, if you have not heard Rosetta, you really must.

Rosetta - The Galilean Satellites [2005]
sludge metal, post-metal, drone metal
v0

Apparently, if you line up the first and second discs to start playing at the same time, it turns into some sort of new masterpeice - I don't know why I still haven't done it. First disc is their typical hard, epic sludge. Second disc is hard, epic drone.

Rosetta & Balboa - Project Mercury [2006]
sludge metal, post-metal

Balboa isn't bad.

01 Balboa - Primitive Accumulation
02 Balboa - Kaddish
03 Balboa - Planet of Slums
04 Rosetta - TMA-1
05 Rosetta - Clavius
06 Rosetta & Balboa - Project Mercury

Rosetta - Wake/Lift [2007]
sludge metal, post-metal
v0

Probably their most widely acclaimed album, probably for good reason. It opens amazingly and never gets bad. Definitely the place to start if you're new.

01 Red in Tooth and Claw
02 Lift (part 1)
03 Lift (part 2)
04 Lift (part 3)
05 Wake
06 (Temet Nosce)
07 Monument

Rosetta - The Cleansing Undertones of Wake/Lift [2007]
drone metal
v0

A strictly drone album inspired by Wake/Lift. (Not something to sync with Wake/Lift like the second disc of The Galilean Satellites) I've found it makes a good theme for power-naps. Mostly because it's powerful.

Old Man Gloom

▲ Last.fm Link

Frankly, I don't like posting this whole discography, but people really need to hear Old Man Gloom in all their ultimate greatness.

Old Man Gloom is some sort of supergroup comprised of Forensics, Isis, Cave In. Goes from really droney stuff straight to the hardest sort of metal you can imagine. Very diverse, always surprising, considerably awesome.

Buy their stuff from the Hydrahead Shop. Myspace link by request of that one guy.
