Awol One & Factor - Owl Hours

Awol One & Factor - Owl Hours [2009]
abstract/experimental hip-hop
v0

Awol One... something about this guy's voice just does it for me. If you haven't heard his album Afterbirth, find that somewhere too. The instrumentals are strange, the lyrics are strange, the vocals are strange. All in a good way.

Bohren & Der Club Of Gore - Dolores [2008]
atmospheric dark funeral jazz
v2

I'm sure this band is old news to some of you, they've been around for a quite a while. However, I just re-listened to this album for the first time since it first came out the other night and instantly fell in love. This is amazing late rainy night relaxation music. It works alright in other settings, but that's the very best possible time to listen to it. Highly highly recommended.

Hey dudes, I'm back! If you've been here for a while, you know that I absolutely love La Dispute. I also really love Touche Amore, in fact, I'm wearing a shirt of theirs right now. While this split is very short, it's also very good (br00tal). Check it out.

Hammock - Chasing After Shadows... Living With The Ghosts [2010]
lovely romantic ambient post-swell slide guitar and drones

Hammock is always golden. They're still keeping that beautiful heart-swelling signature sound of theirs but progressing enough to keep it interesting. Such nostalgia it brings.

Souls of Mischief - 93 Til Infinity [1993]
90s hip-hop
v2

This album got me thinking... what if hip-hop had stayed in the 90s for 10 years while the rest of us went into the 00s, and then emerged again this year and dumped all of its awesome new content on us... My goodness that would be amazing.

90s hip-hop to infinity!

Self-proclaimed "metal for astronauts" band Rosetta never fails to deliver. Never. If you're into any kind of heavier music and haven't heard Rosetta by now, you better board this rocket ship before it blasts off! *sheepish grin*

Lusine reminds me a lot of Loscil, especially with this album. It's very relaxing and nice. Soothing ambiance with a few beeps and blips.

Sun Araw - On Patrol [2010]
lo-fi, psych drone
v0

Last.fm calls this "Creepster" music (Creepy+Hipster). That's a pretty rad description for it, actually. Lo-fi tribal drones. I would guess that if you did some sort of mind-altering substance while listening to this it would be quite the experience.

Sorry Friends

I realize I've been very bad about updating this blog - it's been two months now! I'm even getting new readers too, just from my back-catalog of posts.

Because of this, I'll try to make a concerted effort to get this updated a little more often, hopefully at least a few times a week.

I've got a bunch of good music queued up that I've been listened to a lot lately, so sit tight, I'll be throwing new stuff on here soon!
