Gravenhurst - Flashlight Seasons [2004]
gloom folk

Music for the fall and winter months when it gets dark early and you can see your breath rising above the spindly branches of dead trees and a floor of rotted brown leaves and mud under your feet.

Wide vast airy and desolate drones. Good for sleeping to obviously. Kind of dark, but mostly just washed out in white.

Hey Mercedes - Loses Control [2003]
melodic indie rock jamz

I'm a big Bob Nanna fan, and this is my favourite record of his since Braid's seminal "Frame and Canvas" LP. Smart, catchy 4 minute rock songs that swap the teenage angst for grown-up intelligence. Real joy of an album.

The Chariot

The Chariot is pretty much almost my favorite band... So much brootal, so consistently. Their bumper sticker graces the back of my car - marking the only band to do so. They completely destroy all their gear at the end of their live shows and are a blast to see. If you're a fan of fast and brutal and dissonant - this is the right post for you.
